One of the leading children's publishers of the 1940s, Merrill used its stable of illustrators--such as the unidentified "Schumacher" to produce books with incredible appeal. The illustrations in this work feature beautiful baby animals learning and at play. The linenette construction is typical of the period, an innovative and hard-wearing predecessor to the plastic rip-proof and water-proof books that would follow. Only minor wear to bright original wrappers. Near-fine condition.
