"Why Should the German People Revolt Against the Fuehrer?
It's the Fuehrer Who Has Led Us from Victory to Victory"

Leske, Gottfried. I Was A Nazi Flier. New York: Dial, 1941.

Octavo. Hardcover. 1st Edition.

First edition of this candid glimpse into the psyche of the German military ostensibly written by a captured bomber pilot. Almost certainly a piece of propaganda, I Was a Nazi Flier purports to share the musings of a captured Nazi pilot. The editor, Curt Reiss, is the more interesting character. A German-Jewish refugee, Reiss was a foreign and war correspondent who offered fascinating reporting on conditions inside Hitler's Germany. Reiss is also believed to have been a spy during the war. Thus, while he may have been the real writer of this book, he had more real knowledge than many actual German pilots about the state of Nazi Germany.  Stamped "PR" next to dust jacket price. Book fine, dust jacket near-fine with only light rubbing.
