Extremely Rare 1944 Pamphlet on Nazi Law in Poland

Polish Labor Group. Nazi Justice. New York: Polish Labor Group, 1944.

Octavo. Paper Wrappers. 1st Edition.

First edition of this contemporary pamphlet released by the Polish Labor Group on legal conditions for Poles and Polish Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland, touching on slave labor and summary executions, with a preface by Pulitzer-winning American journalist Edgar Mowrer. This pamphlet was produced by the Polish Labor Group, an affiliate of the underground socialist party in Poland. Intended to bring to light the legal abuses under the Nazis, it touches on Hitler's authoritarianism; the savage penal laws; slave labor; executions; and the overall gutting of justice. Included are numerous examples of the punishments for particular "crimes." Of particular note is the tight linking of ethnic Poles to Polish Jews, something that is not always characteristic of pamphlets from the period. Tiny pinhole to front wrapper. A beautiful copy in near-fine or better condition.
